This time, it’s not just about going it alone--it’s about finding a partner who won’t flinch when the lights flicker and the floorboards creak.
In Detective Partners, a time-limited event, you’ll explore the rooms of a mysterious manor, each one hiding a clue that could push the investigation forward. To begin making progress in each room, you’ll need to pair up with another Detective--but from there, you can choose to work together or take the lead yourself. No matter how you play it, teamwork gives you the edge. So pick your partners carefully, and keep your eyes peeled. Let’s connect the dots before they disappear into the fog.
How do I access Detective Partners?
Once you reach [Chapter 2, Scene 4], Detective Partners will be available to you.
As with any time-limited event, Detective Partners follows a set schedule, and once it goes live, you’ll spot its icon on the left side of your Orchid Island:

How do I play and progress in Detective Partners?
In this time-limited event, you’ll investigate several rooms of a grand manor, each hiding a vital clue. To begin earning progress toward each room, you’ll need to pair up with another Detective--though once you’ve started, you’re free to complete the challenge solo or as a team. While a partner’s contribution isn’t required, teaming up is strongly encouraged, as tackling the event alone will be significantly more difficult. Choose your partners wisely: invite other players or accept incoming invitations.
Step 1: Prepare and play Detective Partners Hidden Object Scenes
Before you begin investigating the rooms, you’ll need to prepare by collecting special event currency--Spin Tokens.
To earn Spin Tokens, you’ll need to play Hidden Object Scenes available through the Detective Partners event. To play these scenes requires Partner Energy, which regenerates automatically over time--if you run out, just check back later or use Diamonds to get more!
As you play, you’ll reach scene mastery milestones that may grant you some Spin Tokens. At the same time, you’ll earn Scene Mastery Points, and once you’ve fully mastered the scene, you’ll unlock the final milestone, which grants you a larger amount of Spin Tokens. These tokens are essential for unlocking and investigating rooms throughout the event.
Keep winning rounds to build a win streak--the longer your streak, the faster your progress!
Keep in mind that each player is assigned a random Hidden Object Scene, so Detective Partners may receive different scenes to play.
Step 2: Partner up and investigate the rooms by spinning the wheel
Once you’ve collected some Spin Tokens and paired up with a Detective Partner, the investigation begins! To make progress, simply use your Spin Tokens to spin the wheel inside the room. Each spin earns you progress, bringing you closer to uncovering a crucial clue. And remember--you’re not working alone! Your partner is right there with you.
Work together to achieve more! You and your partner will both earn rewards for completing the room. And, if you manage to investigate all rooms in the manor, you’ll be able to obtain the Grand Prize!
How do I choose and invite a partner?
To invite a partner, start by tapping the plus sign (+) icon in one of the available rooms in Detective Partners. This will open the Partner Up pop-up.
You can invite any friend from the list by tapping the blue Invite button, and accept an invite by tapping the green Accept button.
You can:
- invite multiple partners to ensure that you successfully find one partner per room (each room requires one partner to unlock and investigate together)
- accept invitations from other Detectives
- start earning Spin Tokens even before you’ve formed a partnership
- start using your Spin Tokens to investigate a room once you have at least one partner
Your journey begins the moment you step in--whether solo or side-by-side with a partner!
Who can I invite to be my partner?
You’ll be able to invite everyone you already play with--your clubmates, Facebook friends, friends you’ve invited to the game, and even those you’re sharing shrubs with!
And if you’re short on friends to invite, no worries--based on your location and playstyle, the game will suggest other Detectives for you to partner up with and keep the fun going!
If no suitable suggestions are available, the game will let you know and refresh the list each time you open Detective Partners, giving you new opportunities to connect.
How long is my invitation active?
Once an invitation is sent, it stays active until the event ends, the invited partner accepts or declines, or all partner slots are full. Anyone with access to the event can join in!
Why partner up with other Detectives?
Having partners in the event brings plenty of perks! They can spin the wheel even while you’re away, making progress in the room and triggering rewards for both of you.
You’ll also get notified when:
- Your partner has reached a room milestone
- Your partner has finished a room investigation and found a clue
In both cases, rewards will be ready to be claimed by you.
Can I change my partners?
No. Once you've partnered up with your Detective friends, those partners are locked for the entire event.
Can I start playing before partnering up?
Yes! You can begin earning Spin Tokens as soon as the event starts. However, you’ll only be able to spend them on spins after you’ve formed at least one pair.
How do the rooms work?
Every room comes with its own progress bar, showing how far you and your Detective Partner have come together. You can also see the individual contribution of each Detective.
You progress by using the wheel to unlock up to three room milestones and a final reward along the way. Each milestone has its own reward, and both partners receive the same benefits--no one misses out!
If your partner reaches a milestone while you're away, don’t worry--your rewards are safe! The next time you return to the event, you’ll be able to claim everything you’ve earned.
What is Partner Energy, and how do I earn it?
Partner Energy works much like regular Energy, or Secret Energy used in Secrets gameplay.
Partner Energy regenerates automatically over time, so you’ll always have more coming. You can also earn bonus Partner Energy by leveling up your win streak, or, if you’re in a pinch, you can purchase more using Diamonds by tapping the plus (+) icon next to the Partner Energy bar, which opens up the Partner Energy Shop.
Want a bigger Energy reserve? You can purchase a one-time-only Partner Energy bar extension to increase your maximum Partner Energy capacity. This upgrade lasts for the entire duration of a Detective Partners event, giving you more Energy to play with and more chances to progress! For the best value, grab it early in the event!
Keep in mind that once the event is over, the Partner Energy bar extension disappears along with the event. Don’t worry, you can buy it again in the next event!
What are Spin Tokens, and how can I get them?
Spin Tokens are a special currency in Detective Partners used to spin the wheel and advance your investigation.
To collect Spin Tokens, you’ll need to play and master Hidden Object Scenes. The faster you progress, the more tokens you’ll collect--and keeping up a win streak helps! Each win streak level boosts your end-of-round points with a higher multiplier.
You’ll play random scenes in time-limited rounds. Winning a round helps you advance scene mastery. Reach a scene mastery milestone or fully master a scene, and you’ll be rewarded with Spin Tokens--essential for continuing your investigation.
What is a win streak?
Boost your progress with a win streak!
Winning consecutive rounds activates a win streak, and each successive win levels up your win streak, which significantly increases the points you earn at the end of each round, helping you get the Spin Tokens faster as you go. The higher your win streak level, the higher the multiplier of your score will be!
How do I spin the wheel?
To investigate a room, simply spin the wheel--each spin requires 10 Spin Tokens. The wheel will land on a random wedge, and the number of points shown will be added to your room’s progress bar.
Want to boost your results? You can try to multiply your points by using more Spin Tokens at once (x2, x3, x5, etc.). The more you invest, the greater the reward--your points will be multiplied by the same amount. The multiplier is active for a single spin at a time. E.g. You choose a x2 multiplier when the Spin Token requirement is 10 tokens. After activating the multiplier, the required Spin Tokens doubles (you use 20 instead) but the points you’ll receive will also double.
What rewards can I earn?
Both you and your partner will earn rewards as you progress through each room. Discovering clues and completing a room’s investigation will grant final rewards to both of you.
And, if you manage to fully investigate every room in the mansion, you’ll unlock the ultimate achievement: the Grand Prize!
What is the Detective Partners event cooldown?
Once the event ends, the event icon on Orchid Island and the event screen will remain accessible for a limited cooldown period. Please check the timer to see how long the cooldown is.
During this time, players can:
- Claim rewards
- Claim Grand Prize rewards
It’s not possible to continue room investigations during cooldown.
Any unused Partner Energy or Spin Tokens will be automatically converted into compensation and sent to your in-game mailbox.
What happens to my partner after the event ends?
Once you and your Detective Partner have reached all the milestones and claimed your rewards, your collaboration ends, and you’ll have to find new partners at the beginning of each Detective Partners event.
Don’t worry, you can stay connected through shrub gifting! After the event ends, your Detective Partners will remain visible on your friends list in the boat for a while, alongside your other Detective friends. If you’d like to keep the connection going, just send them a shrub as a gift--this will ensure they stay on your Visit Friends list.
What if I don’t see the Detective Partners event in my game?
Like most of our big features, we’re trying our best to develop a captivating and enjoyable experience for our Detectives. This means that we are still fine-tuning the Detective Partners feature, and it is not available to all players at this point in time.
